They're junk, and they lack the universal connector assembly, which is fusion bonded on the real deal. Good luck remove one from your old housing and installing it on the knock off.

Stay far away from those housings! You have been warned. The HT1000 cases I purchased were absolute junk- there are mold seam marks and other defects all over the cases. The labels aren't even close to the OEM motorola ones. The knobs are one-piece cheapo plastic hack jobs. I'll be returning these ASAP.

Yep. eBay Chinese crap.
There are a few US sellers who stock the OEM refurb kits, but they're way more (60-70 bucks) but they are REAL and complete with knobs, escutcheons, paddles- just transfer your electronics over.

Also beware of "baymeboy" on Screwbay.
I bought a bogus HT750 refurb kit, these are also cheap fakes from China, and lack the shields and have cheap knock off labels, knobs and are of poor quality.

That is probably why LindaWang blurs out the the Motorola sticker in the list photo.

I tried one. The PTT button uses a rubber striker to hit the pc board ptt, it's too thick and after installing the case and having to glue the speaker in (yup, good stuff) the radio went Into TX when powered on. Had to cut down the rubber striker to get it rigged right, what a mess.

I took it apart and it went in the garbage.

I'm seeing a lot of counterfeit parts some of these unscrupulous sellers don't tell you its a crap fake but list for a nice dollar. If even the slightest detail looks funny take a look back and see if all the other pieces match. Most of the time you will find these cheap china sweat shop "aftermarket" parts sellers with warehouse loads of crap quality fake motorola accessories. I wouldn't go that far to call them that...they are just plain shoddy fakes and you'll know when it shows up.

Speaking of counterfeit...I have full length UHF and 800 and stubby 8/900. I was victim of a scam deal and am stuck with them as I would never sell them - too risky. I guess if people want them for kicks I can send them for "the price of shipping"?

Also note that the same applies to cheapo chinese batteries. The cells last less than normal alkaline cells and the plastic is worse than you can imagine!
I think that it whould be better if they were signed like "Warning - For display ONLY *** DO NOT DROP"
In my GP300 case, the antenna has a 10 deg tilt to left...
Good only if you want to get rid of your old HT to someone you don't know and who can't find you again;
the last is very important because Motorola HTs lave bad impact evidence to your head, even in a chinese case...

Will,

How does the bottom of those two antennas look? I've seen them fakes not machined very good with the connector.

I'd also like to point out that just about every fake has an orange or red color on the connector

DANGER WILL ROBINSON! Not only are these Chinese turds poor fakes, someone did a nice write up with side by side comparison with teardown photos of the REAL OEM Motorola antennas vs. the FAKE Chinese crap ones and showed the horrible soldering job at the base of the antenna, which on the phoney baloney one, will result in a poor connection. This will mean eventual failure and keep transmitting into it and well, buy yourself a new PA.

I searched but could not find the thread. It was a great work because it showed what trash the knockoffs are not just on the outside, but inside where it matters. The Motorola OEM antennas have a superior soldering/welding of the "speedometer" cable to the connector, whereas the Chinese turd just had a dab of solder and a thin wire that could/would/did easily sheer off with any stress it was subjected to.

But that's Ebay for ya! the WALMART of the online auction world, lots of cheap plastic, dangerous crapola from China.

Yes the connector is indeed red. It matches the same type of construction I've seen on other "non branded" knock off antennas perfectly. Not only is the soldering sub par, but the injection molding is also not as good. Sometimes if you simply bend them enough the plastic slides right off! Definitely not worth using...I'm just keeping them as novelties.

Anyone's guess as to where these things would actually resonate. Have seen some on the Bay that have a similar outward appearance but are advertized as VHF. Just more stuff coming out of China that are made to sell with little regard if any, to function. Our landfills are filling up with this junk, where are the tree huggers when we need them ? Big fan of Chinese food but look for any alternative out there before buying their goods.

Ha! These knock offs are advertised as VHF, UHF, 800, 900,,, whatever you want it to be - they must be the magic multi-band antenna!

I've been told by a resource close to a major US emergency lighting manufacturer that now they go as far as sell the Chinese knockoffs with the US manufacturer logos molded into the housings like the 800 antennas above... They ship direct from overseas so it's difficult for the US manufacturers to keep track of this stuff it seems... It's a damn shame, and I feel sorry for the buyer and end user who falls into the trap... New volunteer firefighter, etc..

that has been going on for years. I did a tour of Federal Signal's plant in University park IL over 10 years ago. They had a China knockoff in one of their labs. If you sat them side by side the unwise masses couldnt tell them apart. They had their engineers tear it down and they were amazed at the way they copied them.
