I have a "universal" NiCad/NiMH charger I can connect to the back of the battery, but I need to know the pin out for the charge side of it.
Thanks in advance,
Geoff.

NOT a good idea. No control over the charging.gsmendelson wrote: I have a "universal" NiCad/NiMH charger I can connect to the back of the battery, but I need to know the pin out for the charge side of it.

If you are going to be using any kind of pulse, or conditioning charger, you will want to use the battery contacts on the radio side of the battery, as the diode on the outside contacts won't allow voltage to flow out. All the AdvanceTec pulse chargers use these radio side contacts. GARY N4KVESteve wrote:Looking at the back of the battery try bottom left for ground and bottom right for positive. I believe there is a series diode on the positive lead.
If you want to connect direct to the contacts that the radio uses on the other side of the battery the middle is ground, the left is positive.
Any charger that wants to discharge as part of a condition cycle will require the use of the inside contacts. There are plenty of smart chargers though that work fine through a diode and can use the outside contacts.N4KVE wrote:If you are going to be using any kind of pulse, or conditioning charger, you will want to use the battery contacts on the radio side of the battery, as the diode on the outside contacts won't allow voltage to flow out. Thanks, not where I'm at. I'm in Israel, and there are no swapmets and no chargers to be found.CircleBat wrote:chargers are very cheap for these radios... look around and you may pick one up for 5 Bucks at a ham swapmeet
Thanks, that's what I need. This charger is pretty smart, it charges all sorts of nicad and nimh batteries such as mt600, etc quite nicely.Steve wrote:Looking at the back of the battery try bottom left for ground and bottom right for positive. I believe there is a series diode on the positive lead.
