MC2500 Radio Patch

Post by fullyfuly »

I am looking to patch together (2) base stations which currently are controlled via a MC2500 remote and it looks like it can be done but I have a few questions that Moto tech support can't answer (it is getting bad).

My first question is when the channels are patched would all the audio come through the internal speaker as selected audio. I don't currently have a speaker setup for unselected audio.

My second question is if I had the patch initiated when I tx would it be like multi select where the tx audio is sent to both channels.

If you have any experience with this I would appreciate your insight. Thank you in advance.

If they are already connected couldn't you just patch them together and see if it works how you want it to?

Patched audio will come across as selected audio since you are essentially selecting two channels.

Yes, if you select one of the patched channels you will transmit on both channels simultaneously.

I try to stay away from patching unless the operator is very familiar with how it works. I've seen it cause problems. We had a customer accidentally patch two base stations together on the same repeater channel. Every time someone would transmit the repeater would stay keyed until the TOT expired.

If you have an account, the MC2500 manual is available on MOL. They answer these questions in the manual. Good luck!
