Windows XP embedded 2009 and XTS-5000 USB

Post by zandercott »

Hi - first time poster here. I am experimenting with a PC-104 computer running Windows XP embedded 2009. I've had no issues loading XTS-5000 version 17.00 CPS, but I have had no luck making the USB driver work correctly. Initially I had an issue with the USB port driver, was looking for USBser.sys for Service Pack 3. I copied that over from another computer and it seems to have been resolved. But when I insert the USB cable I get this message:

"There was a problem installing this hardware:
MOTOROLA XTS-5000 RADIO

An error occurred during installation of the device

The driver installation file for this device is missing ta necessary entry. This may be because the INF was written for Windows 95 or later. Contact your hardware vendor.

I've looked over the "MotorolaFLO8USB.inf file and can't seem to see where

Any ideas and thanks in advance - Jeff

What radios do you own?: HT1550's, X9000's, CDM1550's

well to start out with the drivers are not for the cable, the drivers are for the radio. There should be no need to copy drivers from other machines, all the drivers needed come with the cps. what's the firmware in the radio?

XP Embedded is always fun, because you don't always know what components whoever built the image has left out.

If the machine has hardware RS-232, to be honest the easiest route is going to be using a serial cable to the radio from the builtin serial port.

Thanks for the responses, and yes I meant to say that I had a problem when the radio was hooked up. My little project requires me to test the CPS on the XPe, and I swear I thought this was the easy part. I can get the serial ports to work but the usb feature is the key to success. I wonder if I can get a driver built just for that thing?

I've had problems with 2 different 5000's:
first one is flashcode 580081-001202-7 with P25, OTAR, OTAP, Data, Vote Scan and chn ann.
2nd is flashcode 5A.081-001B02-4 with P25, OTAR, FPP-PE, OTAP, Data, RCP, Vote Scan, FCC Conventional FPP and Clone, chn ann

Any direction appreciated - thanks.

The best advice is get a machine that has a real serial port and/or usb port and a better copy of xp. Stop trying to trick things into working, that's a huge risk with radios that cost thousands of $$$. It's not like you have to find an old 386, this should be easy

I need the XPe machine to perform like our other pc's. I may have to suck up to the Gods in the IT dept to figure it out.
