MCX1000 Poor Receive

Hi All,

I have an MCX1000 i programmed this morning.

Anyone ever program one of these and notice the receiver sensitivity goes way down after programming? The radio was working before reprogramming. I've never seen this before be it on the motorola equipment i have at home or the Icom/Kenwood equipment i program at work.

You have to align the receiver to your new programmed frequency. They are not very broad like Maxtrac/GM300 radios.

Yep, if you move them more than a couple mhz or so, you need to retune the RX.

Yep... and if it's an old railroad radio, it may have a single front end in it - even narrower. The typical use case I see is an old railroad radio being repurposed for hamsexual activities... the radio will work, if a 10uV receiver is your goal.

I have retuned the radio, thankfully i have the service manual. I remember several other MCX1000 users here in Newfoundland mentioned the front end needed to be retuned but was unsure as i am pretty much familiar with GM300 and the CM200 mobiles. I did managed to get the radio down to about 15uV which is not to bad for the area i am in.
