Astro Spectra CPS invalid

Post by Anderegg »

I'm new to CPS, and need some help. I read an Astro Spectra, and the invalid screen listed a few things. I simply wanted to change some scan settings and display names, but I was afraid to send the codeplug to the radio with invalid entries. I believe the radio was last programmed with RSS. When invalid data is programmed, do I risk bricking the radio? The radio works perfectly as it is, and I don't want to fark that up.

The radio will not program with an invalid entry - That's why its invalid. Perhaps your display names are too long, or the scan lists are not setup for the correct type of personality.

The thing is the radio comes up with invalid fields simply from READING the radio, without modifying anything.

The section with the invalid entries is displayed with a red mark in the section listing area.
The invalid entry list tell you the same thing in more exact form.
And no, you can't send data to the radio with invalid entries existing.

OK thanks, I was afraid it might "force" the codeplug in ala labtool!

not shure about this radio but I know 1550's will do that if it's out of range, has the radio been hacked with a different cps out of range? And I thought all cps now have the icon that will take you to the error and display it for you?

It was most likely hacked with labtool over a decade ago, back in the days when there were different Astro types and building custom Motorolas was popular and fun. And yes, the CPS does take me to the invalid dialog box. Can anyone recommend a good website or wiki for CPS instructions, or should the help files in CPS be good enough? I like the only F1 help in RSS. :-)

how about telling us what the invalid fields are and what they say? Then we'll know what hacking was done
