Met some old time Motorola employees today.

Today at a free flea in Ft. Lauderdale I walked by a group of 3 older men. One man's voice seemed familiar, so I introduced myself. Turns out we never met each other, but spoke to each other in the 80's, & 90's on the Motorola 79 machine which is on the plant in Plantation. [Ft. Lauderdale]. Turns out the 2 other men designed & built Sabers back in the day. Heard lots of interesting stories, & how at the end of the run, the transistors in the PA were unstable, & of poor quality. Nothing is built there now. Just engineers. Nice guys. GARY

That's funny you mention that about analog Saber PAs of late vintage being flakey, out of 10 VHF Sabers I've owned over the years, three had PAs that failed. All of them were made in 1994 or later.
