DOS Box

Post by AL7OC »

We are currently running a program called DOS Box on our company laptops for programming older imaging equipment. DOS Box allows us to run older DOS based equipment programming tools and also supports serial port comms with the equipment. We are running it on XT Professional.

Anyone tried DOS Box or similar program with Motorola DOS based RSS?

Yes, if you do a simple search here for DOSbox you'll find many threads about it. For Motorola radios, there's a modified version of v0.65 that works excellent for all the 'simple' RSS that uses BUS+ and Ground such as Radius M100/200, M120/GM300, Maxtrac, GTX, LCS, SM/SP50/120, GP300/P110, etc. I haven't been successful in getting it to work for other RSS such as HT1000/MTSX/MCS/Astro/Spectra, etc. Some people have reported success, but haven't really elaborated on what they did to get things working.

Check out the link below to read through & get the needed files:

This modified version doesn't seem to play well with other radios like Kenwood. For them, you're better off using the latest 'regular' version.

The DLL file location doesn't work.

I see, yes, hosting files typically doesn't last forever. If someone here can offer some server space, I can forward the files to be hosted.

In the meantime, anyone who needs them let me know their email address via PM.
