PM1500 Monitor will not close

Post by smokey1907 »

We have a new ambulance that came with a pm1500 in it. When the microphone is on the hook the monitor icon on the screen stays on all of the time and all of the channels are carrier even with the proper pl's on them. Am I missing a setting somewhere in the programing or could this be a mic issue?

Also check that the mic clip is grounded. Radio is looking for a ground on the mic ring for the hangup.

Jim, if the PM1500 is like the other PM's and CM's in the Commercial Series, the hanger probably doesn't need to be grounded as the two sections of the hang up button are the contacts for the HUB. Placing the mic in the metal hanger completes that circuit. It's worth a try for the OP to ground the hanger just to be sure, but probably not needed.

The PM1500 is an Astro25 radio and uses the big "potato" mic that has a solid hangup button, so the clip needs to be grounded. The mic should've had a grounding kit come with it.

Thanks for the replies. The ambulance came with the radio in it when we bought it so no grounding kit with the hanger. I will try and ground the hangers and see if that works. Thanks again!
