...Standard Motorola Color code ???

Post by Martel »

Hi all...

Good End of the World !!!!

More seriously, i'd like to know if there were a standardised color code for interconnections on Motorola equipment ?

For example, if i want to connect a MSR2000 repeater on a Zetron controller using a rainbow cable, what wire color shall i use for COR, PTT, disc. audio, Tx audio, CTCSS/DCS ,etc...

Almost everyone uses his/her own color code, (Black and Red for power being the only standardised colors) and it would be practical to use a universal color code since my question regarding Motorola.

Thank you and Merry Christmas !

Sorta, not really. As you say, red & black for power & ground. Beyond that, most mics use white for PTT, blue for tx audio, and green for headset audio, so I typically use green for RX in interconnects.

Back in the day of seven wire deskset cable I was taught to use the following:

Red - power
Black - ground
Yellow - RX audio
White- monitor
Green - PTT
Brown - mic hi
Shield - mic lo

I still try to follow this scheme as best I can to this day.
Lots and lots of watts...

Thank you very much !!!!

Perhaps the best thing to do is to use a standard color code for each shop since there seems to be no standard code...
