gm300 Mic Problem

Post by Timmuc »

I made a repeater with two gm300 radios (back to back; bidirectional). The repeater is working fine, but when I use the mic at the radio there is just noise. Is there the possibility to use the Mic at the repeater?

On the motorola mobiles with the 16 pin plugs
like gm300/maxtracs you can get audio
from the front RJ45 jacl or the 16 pin unit on
the back of the radio. It depends how the back plug
is set-up.You may have two tx audios .
Remove the cable in the back and tx from the front
port and see what happens. Most of the time without
and mods then you can only use the front or the back
port .(one at a time)Two can be used with a modification.

What radios do you own?: GM300's, GM350's, Visar's

It may be that the noise is actually audio coming from the other radio's receiver. This audio can be set to either muted or unmuted. If it's set to muted and the radio is programmed and adjusted properly, there should be nothing coming out of the RX AUDIO line on the receiver when no signal is present, and you should get no noise when you use a local mike on the transmit radio.

Additional circuitry could be added between the two radios to alleviate the problem but I'll not go into that here.
