Help Identifying Auto "SOS" from Mob/Port

Post by psapengineer »

Colleagues,

Following our near death experience with VHF narrow-banding and the associated reprogramming of our fleet we seem to have enabled a feature in one or more of our "subscriber" mobiles or portables that we don't desire.

Can any of you identify the manufacturer and/or model of radio that can be programmed to initiate a synthesized voice transmission saying:

"SOS VID 6T6 SOS" (or was it sixtysix, can’t tell)

and can be set to do it over a minute or two in three cycles of the message? The synthesizer is using a not great, not bad, reasonable quality mono female voice. I have a WAV file from our recorder to e-mail if that will help.

Thanks, PSAPENGINEER

We had a simular item come out of an iCop device in one of the city patrol cars. It also had a different voice message with the lat/long included.
