This has happened twice now. Fully charged impres APX OEM NNTN7038A battery...works fine...status/meter icon on the radio, etc. Maybe a week later of just sitting around the desk and periodically being turned on for short periods to monitor a freq here and there, all of a sudden I turned it on tonight and no status/meter icon. Radio seems fine...powers up, receives/sends, etc. But no battery meter/gauge in the display. Battery info shows dashes with no percentage. I stick it in the OEM impres charger and it charges up fine.
This has occurred on two different OEM batteries which both charge/condition at 100% and even over rated mAh capacity.
Any ideas?

That's normal for them to lose the fuel gauge if they aren't charged for about a week to 10 days.. The XTS Astro25 series portables do the same thing as well..

If your radio has old firmware, programming it with the latest CPS will not add any new features unless you have the latest firmware to match..
CPS = Customer Programming Software, Not CPS Software.

Drop them into an impress charger and let it recondition the battery, and you will be go to go.

Did that already. It was last fully conditioned the last time I charged it....about a week and a half ago. Wonder why they lose the fuel gauge after a while. I'm using the latest firmware R09.00.00.fire_master_21 wrote:Drop them into an impress charger and let it recondition the battery, and you will be go to go.

not sure why they do that, but they like to see that impress charger in the 7-10 range. My APX and XTS batts are the same way.

Like I said, this is a normal function of them, and a reminder from the battery that says to you...
"Hey, charge me, it's been a while and my fuel gauge went away"
This is nothing new, nor an issue with your batteries. The IMPRES batteries have been functioning like this for years..
