How To? Swap mid pwr O3 to Hi pwr W9 XTL remote head radios

Post by myoung »

What do I need to have and what do I need to do to swap heads from a remote mount XTL5K O3 mid power radio and put it onto a remote mount XTL5K W9 Hi Power radio and vice verso so that I still have two working radios.
I want the O3 to end up on the Hi power, the W9 on the mid power
I was told that I would need a different flex, but will need more than just that.
Obviously, I have never have done this, please provide as much detail as needed to get the job done by a first timer.

Thanks

A post to my own post......a correction

I am actually trying to swap an O5 head, but an O3 head should more or less be the same I expect.
If I can plug in an O3, I can plug in an O5.

You will need a TIB and flex for the O3/O5, TIB and flex for the W series. High power radios use a different flex than the mid power radios. The board side connector is totally different
