Pro Series Cancelations Continue

Post by escomm »

True to their word at CPE, Motorola have issued the cancelation notice for the UHF R2 high split high power CDM mobiles. For the CDM750, CDM1250 and CDM1550LS+ the last order date is 5/21 and last ship date is 6/30. Low power high split mobiles will continue to be available, otherwise the alternate will be the XPR mobiles.

Don't you just love it when a sales plan comes together. When it looks like sales are starting to drop, why not just cut off that model and force customers to buy the newer, more expensive radios that don't work as well.

It's time to move on though. The CDM series has been available nearly 15 years. At least they didn't get an itchy trigger finger and cancel them as soon as the TRBO line came out 5 years ago. That would have been a sh!t show at the time. The subsequent firmware revisions have brought the TRBO line very close to the analog functionality of the professional series. We haven't sold a CDM except to one particular customer (customized taxi data dispatch) for the last 2-3 years.

the XPR series i think put a big dent in the CDM sales. for the price of a CDM you could get a nice Fancy full color display with the XPR
