MC2500 Tone Timing Issues

Post by FMROB »

Hello all,

I have a stupid question. I have a MC2500 console connected to two different repeater and a tone remote with low band radio. Anyway, I need to send DTMF strings to open up paging translations and then send QCII. No issue, I program the speed page buttons in a row and as long as yous select the proper order everything comes out ok.

The problem I am having is that the dtmf strings and CQII are coming out so fast that the first digits of DTMF and/or CQII are being cut off with the delay of the tone remotes.

Is there a way to add a delay after key up but before the tones go out. I have been through the programming and I can't find anything that would help. I would assume adding some sacrificial digits prior to the acutal code may cause decoder issues?? Is there a way to add time spaces?

Thanks, Rob

How about one of these 2 parameters on page C1 of the install manual:

Page Key Up Delay (sec)
Your choices are: 0 to 60 seconds. The default setting is 0 seconds.

Transmit Delay (ms)
Your choices are: 0 to 500 milliseconds. The default setting is 0 milliseconds

RF, Thanks. I have to find that parameter. I am flying blind on this unit, as it is an existing piece at a customers locaton and no manual to be found. I am on the hunt.

Thanks,Rob

It takes time for a transmitter to come up to speed so to say. If your using tone squelch, then you need at least 250 milliseconds just for the receiver to decode the CTCSS code and open the receiver. This requires a delay be put on any tones that will be sent out. Normally most techs will set a delay of from 250 milliseconds to 500 milliseconds to account for this. If your using a repeater, then this becomes even more of a problem and additional delay might bee needed.

Got it! Thanks all. I got this thing puring like a kitten, the page key up delay was it. I even made new labels for it. Actually, this little console isn't too bad. One thing I was playing with was the mutli select. Is it me or once you multi select it will not let you send any speed pages or tones for that matter. Is there a work around for that. It would be nice to send pages over the low and high band at the same time.
