XTL 5000 Rotary Switch Channel Jumping

I am responsible for maintaining a "fleet" of Astro Spectra XTL 5000 radios with the W4 Control head. The rotary switch has begin to jump/skip channels when scrolling. I replaced the Volume and Rotary Switch Assembly on one and it worked. But, as I face more of these same issues...does anyone have an idea on actually repairing the switch rather than replacing it? I can't help but think that it is a relatively simple mechanical issue inside the switch causing the "jump".

If the knob is jammed on the rotary switch will have problems.
