GR300 mdc1200

Post by hfd921 »

Hey guys I need some quick help and a possibly some trouble shooting.
We have and operate a GR300 repeater the outgoing radio has the mdc1200 programmed into it. Really doesn’t serve a purpose other than just making the MDC1200 Churp/squelch (which is kind of annoying now).
A lot of the time if you key up, you can hear the mdc1200 sound keying up when someone is transmitting ,like several times, so all you get is the mdc1200 no voice. We operate using quite a few HT750 portable radios. My only guess is weak signal in to the GR300 a weak signal out?????????
Would removing the the mdc1200 from the radio help out, or are we looking at other issues.????????

Notes: GR300 repeater (home made) operating at 35 watts, 15 stories up. Our normal area of use is approximately 5-6 miles from the repeater site(wanted to get closer but that was the only highest vantage point we could get).

If anyone has any other tips or suggestions other than my question for the mdc1200, please let me know.

Definitely disable the MDC in both the receiver and transmitter in the GR300.

WE would need some additional information for the radios and interface in your GR300.
