Changing APX7000 housing

Post by asmitty0010 »

has anybody on here changed out their housing? Looking to do a full housing not just sides. Is this pretty straight forward? (i've changed out xts2500 and 5000 cases before)

thanks

The housing is a three-sided piece that's all one part. It's fairly straightforward to do (all you have to remove is the 6 screws on the main speaker side of the radio). You will have to spread the sides open a bit to get it around the chassis during the removal & installation process. This has the sensation that you are spreading the plastic too far, but it's OK.

Don't forget to remove the accessory connector dust cover if fitted too!

Take the speaker module off (easier to work with and you can insert it back very easily after the new cover is on). Watch the display module carefully when you put the new cover on. Since it, too, has no flex connector, it can shift slight a degree or two and look "crooked" when you put the cover back on.
