Motorola Type II SmartZone Omnilink

Post by candrist »

I am a volunteer for my local fire dept. They have approved me to get an 800MHz radio if I purchase it myself.

I am wondering if the one I have will work on a Motorola Type II SmartZone Omnilink system? If not, what flashcode pieces am I missing? Also, what pieces are the ones that are required, because another guy I volunteer with is thinking of getting one too.

Decoding Flashcode: 228008-104400-5
Platform: MTS2000

H260: 250 Mode Capability (Models II & III)
H451: GE STAR
H46: Trunked One Touch Status Message
H38: SmartZone Systems Operation
Q181: MDC Start-Alert Decode Features
H738: MDC Start-Alert Encode Features
Q173: SmartZone Omnilink MultiZone Operation

Thanks!

The two essential options you need are:

H38: SmartZone Systems Operation
Q173: SmartZone Omnilink MultiZone Operation

So that radio will work fine, as long as it has rebanding firmware. What firmware version does it currently have?

I have several of the MTS2000 in model Ii and model III if you are looking for more. They have the smartzone and omnilink flashcode and are in very good condition, near new. PM or email me.

Hello...I'm new at this, hopefully I'm doing this posting correctly. I'm very confused on this issue of MDC1200 (MTS2000) and the Flash code relationship. I just obtained a Model III never thinking that it wouldn't have MDC1200, well, it doesn't :( In searching the various web sites I've read differing thoughts on this. Is it a Flashcode option or not? On one post I saw a code of H181 which said it was for MDC. However, On my MTS2000 Model II (Flashcode 010001-000000-8), when I decode, it only shows H169 & H35, no H181, but, it DOES do MDC1200. When I say it does not have MDC, I mean it's not listed in the CPS as an option I can turn on when I read the model III. When I read the model II, MDC is right there under the conventional tab.

So, can someone clear this up for me. If it is not a Flashcode (as one post suggested) can it somehow be enabled? If it is a Flashcode should I just find another radio (as another post said)?

Dlawman,

That is a good question. You really need to start your own thread if it is not related to Type II SmartZone Omnilink.
