I have never tried to program a MTX radio before. But I will tell you that in all the Motorola radios that have trunking in them, they generally require a systems key file in order to change any trunking setting. This is done to prevent people from programming a radio onto a trunking system with out authorization.

You might also have a problem with the version of your software being too old for the radio being programmed. Motorola has made their software used on the radios only forward compatible. In other words, if newer software was used to program the radio, an older version of it won't be able to make any changes.

Another issue you can run into on the older radios is they have to be run in a pure DOS mode on a slow computer. Some people say you can run the software in a DOS window and it will work fine. That sort of depends on the computer, it's clock speed, how it handles the memory cache and how the Motorola software functions.

not sure this answers your question on what your problem is. But you didn't exactly supply enough info to give any better of an answer.

It was late for me lol. So yes most all trunking by Moto you need a system key but this is LTR trunking and its only when you try and edit the group settings. I can read and write to the radio no problem I am using a very old Gatway just for my dos stuff. The radio does the LTR Trunking just fine just can't change any of the group info. I have never had the chance to program a Moto LTR trunking radio and I will say that Kenwoods and Unidens are much easier. Still would like to figure out the Fatal Error though
