Original price for a Saber III?

Post by wes11b10 »

This is uber-nerdy but I have been wondering since the day I got my first Saber. How much did they go for when new? I'm sure someone out there was involved with purchase orders or possibly has access to an old price list...

Somewhere in my stash of old Motorola brochures is the original Saber III color sheet which gives a base price of $2,875.00. I don't if they loaded the final price with extras like they do today, but the add-on list back then was nowhere near what it is today for the XTS and APX radios.

I wonder how much an XTS5000 will cost in 5-10 years time? !!!

I guess you could figure out when the "Ebay" price for an XTS5000 is about to collaspe and sell before then and buy back later...a bit like stocks and shares!!

I guess the trigger for a price collaspe is when 5,000 sets come on the surplus market...maybe its already happened but there is a lag in the price adjustment!!
