Hi, I am trying to get the squelch indication out of a MCS2000 radio. The purpose is to build a repeater out of two old radios.
Either I am doing something wrong or the function does not work as I expect it to. I am using pin 8 that is in the CPS marked as "radio mute" active low. Problem is that it is always low. Even with an external pull up resistor. I have tried on two radios.
Anyone have ideas?

Look for PL/DPL DETECT in the programming.
Ensure the car radio mute option is disabled in the MCS-2000 programming, and the defaults are programmed for IO3,
IO4 and IO5.

Why PL detect? Do you mean that there is no carrier detect? And that I need to use PL to make it work? I was hoping to avoid PL since some of the portables can´t handle PL.
Looking around the CPS for MCS2000 I can´t find a place where all IO:s are controlled. In later products there is always one page with all IO:s, but I can´t find this in this radio.
