Spectra 15 pin mic rear DIY and ignition input

Post by bradlington »

Hi
I have an old spectra which I do not have a mic for and also the ignition input 5 needs to be high before power button is enabled on the front panel .

I have thus two questions:

1-Any good suggestions for a homebrew mic setup using the rear 15d-type.
2-Any internal strappings to disable this requirement for the 12V input on pin 5 .

I do have a MC-Micro mic that I could modify as it has the 15 pin plug on it .

In South Africa we do not have many hams or other ever used Spectra's so no second hand market for spares or mics.

Thanks

The basic Mic connections are on the 15 pin Accy connector along with the IGN sense and speaker leads.

The MC Micro mic should be electrically the same.

The pin out is here: http://batlabs.com/spectra.html

REMEMBER to fuse the IGN lead at 1 amp MAX, help protect Spectra radios......
