We don't get to play with Tetra too much here in the US. Motorola fought the approval of Tetra licensing at the FCC for far too long. They did not want a technology competing with P25. P25 = interoperability here in the US. Just ask APCO and Motorola....
Re: Hi from Ireland
Tetras a great system, very light weight for running with it, good options for scanning, urgent assistance button etc.
Previously worked with Nokia Tetras.
I've got a few ribless cables & software, just have to organise an old pc.
Any of you folks know dip switch settings for p60's? Seems to be European model, very little info on the net.... Have a few but haven't figured out switch settings...
There's a lot of old motorolas for sale on the uk Market at good prices as dealers don't seem interested in fixing or programming older models.

Re: Hi from Ireland
Old Motorola stuff is not worth much here either. We recently had narrowbanding kick in and that older stuff operating on 25 KHz steps can no longer be used on Business, Public Safety.

One other thing that's nice about TETRA (from my perspective) - APCO-25 defines the needed behavior of the trunking system with a large spec of the form "send this message, the other side will respond with this message, you respond with that message", etc.
TETRA uses a language called SDL to fully specify the behavior of the system, in a way that can be directly synthesized into running code. It makes it much easier when pointing fingers at incompatible behavior.

This is my opinion, not Aeroflex's.
