xts 3000

Post by ctsuds67 »

hello all, brand new to this site and to radios in general. i bought an xts 3000 model II for cheap from a guy i know as a replacement to the scanner i have now and was hoping to use the radio to monitor lacofd and lasd (no need to transmit) for work. the radio i bought is the low band split and only goes up to 470 and lacofd and sheriff operate mostly on 470mhz +. my question is does anyone know of someone in the los angeles area who can do out of band modifications and subsequent programming.. or is it safer/better to sell this one and buy one that has the higher 430-520 split. id like to keep this xts i have now since i got for next to nothing.. thanks for the advice!

What radios do you own?: Over 50 - All Motorola

You more than likely won't be able to get yours to go high enough to do what you need to do because of board and VCO limitations. Best to find one in the correct bandsplit.
