Post by sjxts3000 »

What's the best way to repair a stripped lock screw hole on an XTS Commander II speaker mic?

My Department has several with the same problem because the hole in the latch doesn't line up properly with the brass insert in the connector body. Otto has the same issue. If it's under warranty send it back for a replacement. If it's out of warranty I have thought about some non permanent solution like loctite 222, which I believe is the purple low strength version, that should hold the screw inplace but allow you to remove it easily if you need to. You might even try a tiny piece of teflon tape, like plumbers use, to beef up the threads on the screw a little.

I have not tried either one I'm just thinking out loud right now and throwing out suggestions.

Thanks. It's out of warranty. I'll probably just sell it as-is and get a new one and not worry about it any more. Seems like the weak point in the XTS/Jedi RSMs. The APX series are much better.

over tightening them can cause that easily and they are only supposed to be snugged.
