Gooseneck mic for Motorola radio

Post by RFguy »

I was wondering if anyone knew of a gooseneck mic with a built-in amp that's directly compatible with a Motorola mic input (carbon equivalent).

I have made up many in the past by building up an interface amplifier and using a mic with a dynamic or electret cartridge, but I would really like to find an off-the-shelf solution.

This is for use in a base station application. 18", surface mount gooseneck would be ideal.

Throwing this one out again. Any ideas? It would be nice to find something off the shelf (or close to it)

Todays application is a truck company dispatch on MOTOTRBO. The dispatcher is talking too far from the desk mic. Turning up the mic gain just increases background noise (busy office). He needs to get his mouth closer to the microphone. A gooseneck mic is the best option, I just prefer to do it "off the shelf" if possible.

This is what I've used in the past, but requires us to build up a pre-amp. maybe there's a off-the-shelf preamp option.

I made up a preamp for mics long ago that works on Motorola mobiles. I should work for that mic.
