I belong to two different fire departments who utilize CDM1250's as a base radio. Both presently have the QCII activated to alert the radio when we have a run. At one department, we have lights that are wired to accessory port that will allow the lights to come on when the QCII is alerted and automatically shuts off after 5 minutes. At my other station, we have these lights as well, but the lights literally stay on for about 5 seconds and then shuts off.
In discussion with our radio tech, he said that the only way to increase this time is to put a programmable relay in it to extend the time. Is this true or is there something else that we can do? If the relay is what we need, does anyone know what relay we would need?
Thanks,
Ryan

Re: CDM1250 Paging Lights Setup
All the CDM provides is a closure to ground for a short period of time. You use that to trigger something else if you want different behavior. Go look at the other station to see what was done. There is probably a black box with a barrier strip. It might be off the shelf timed relay, or something someone MacGuivered - it might need external power - it may run a contactor in an electrical panel - it might have a manual reset button in the bay, kitchen, or front office. Lots of ways to configure them.

Bill_G has it right; tho the amount of time is programmable (ahhhh, sounding to me like your radio 'tech' doesn't know his products capablities very well).
Look thru here at batboard, or at Ray Vaughn's site (http://www.rayvaughan.com/recall.htm), or google something like 'fire station alerting'
Hmmm, I like the look of that Viking product.
