Intellirepeater help

Post by jshearer »

I have been told to change the frequencies on our intellirepeater system (GTR8000 with GCP8000 site controllers). It is a military system I cant say why I am changing it but I will describe my problem.

The original code plugs were developed and input by a Motorola tech as normal. It is a VHF system. I figured out how to change the band plan in the code plug and made sure I updated the radio code plug in the subscriber unit. Even after I made sure everything was correct which the system actually does for you, the radio didn't see the control channels.

It is a 20 channel repeater system, in this system I can choose to use up to 4 control channels, I only need two. I also kept the transmit channels, tried to keep the receive channels but we could reallocate them. I am trying to figure out what I am missing in the programming. I have the system key. I am definitely not an expert but I have a fairly good understanding how the system basically works. I disassociated 10 of the channels, to bring the expansion down, which wasn't too difficult. When I ran into this brick wall, I had saved the original code plus so I put the system back to its original state and everything came up fine. I am baffled as to why the radio couldn't see the site.

If you are doing something of this magnitude on a Federal system, you should probably have Motorola give you an ST to assist with whatever you are doing...

At the bare minimum, you should have some telephone support from the Astro25 SSC.
