Members of Batboards I need a little help. I need several Motorola p25 700 mhz type II radios for my local government fleet. Times are tough, there is no money in the budget to add radios and grants are getting harder to get.
So question to the community is…. Are there any companies who would donate Motorola radios? Or are there any ways to get Motorola to donate radios?
Need some help, the 700mhz put a bind on things. The good old days of buying a used Ht1000 uhf on ebay and having an perfectly good radio is over.
Thanks, please let me know if there is anything I can do.

Try local service organizations such as lions clubs.

Re: Need Motorola Radios
Hello,
I would suggest hiring someone to write you a grant.... I dont know what kind of Goverment fleet you are a part of... I think that might be the way to go. there was a School district close to me that was in need of radios for their school square badges.. They were not only given money for Radios they were actually given radios on a repeater system on a commercial site for the custodial/landscaper staff. I'll see if i can find what district it was and for those who are interested what KIND of MOTO equipment they were given.
I'm sure your Agency would qualify for such a grant. I mean if a bunch of square badges and landscapers who want to know "who saw the John deere last" or to clean up some puke on the 2:45 bus i'm sure you would be a shoe -in.
+1 on the lions Club.... back in the day The local Lions club bought us a new Ambulance.
Good luck

Re: Need Motorola Radios
I would love to find a similar offering in Australia for NFP emergency groups who monitor emergency channels (no not a scanner user) and broadcast public safety messages over the emergency channels and road channels on CB. The group which I'm part of has no affiliate funding or any external funding and cannot get the radios it needs to aid in setting up monitoring stations or internal radio networks. So P25 is not necessary but Motorola rather than donate Jedi gear etc would prefer to destroy it apparently.
