Motorola APX7000 Issue

Post by SoCalRescue »

Hey All. Trying to program an APX7000 with an OEM USB cable on Windows 7 (4gb of ram). I installed the software, plugged the cable in, and read the radio fine - made some changes - wrote to it. Worked great! I unplugged the cable and put it away for the night. The next day I plugged that same cable back in, hooked the radio up and when I powered the radio on, windows gives me an error along the lines of "device was not recognized" and "device malfunctioned". I know it's not the radio... so what is going on? Do I need to reinstall? Is there a driver that I am missing (why did it work the first time then?). I am stumped and I need to get this puppy programmed up. Please bless me with all of your infinite wisdom!

Best.

It might be worthwhile to swap with a distant USB port. For instance, if you were plugged into the front then try the rear ports (or vice-versa).

The USB connection with the APX in Win 7 sets up a kind of network, look into the network settings and make sure its labeled home and not public or work.

I'm experiencing the same issue and have tried re-installing CPS, Driver, checked network setting (ref last post in thread), etc. to no avail. APX is recognized by windows when connected, but not by CPS....

Thought I'd try one more before starting a new topic.

I have connected a second APX and it reads and writes perfectly. Tried a second computer and it cannot read/write to the problem radio as well.

Problem radio FW was updated to R10.05.01 just before the problem started, second radio is at R10.00.00 and will stay there for now......CPS is 11.00.00

Any thoughts?

Ok it's been a few months since your post...

Now, upgrade FW to R11 and CPS R11 on both 7000's. There were some known issues with the R10 series FW.

Use the same usb port everytime you program. If you don't, the driver needs to be installed for each different usb port.

Get it solved?
