MCX1000 alternative interface ?

Post by thesupercroc »

Greetings,

I got a hold of a bunch of (100+) mix lot MCX1000s both dash mount and remote mount and mikes. How ever all of the remote mount radios came with out the head unit. that being said I am looking for some way to control or interface with them whether that would via ipad, android, computer or microcontroller. Any one have any ideas? If not then would their be any part that would be good to grab from them?

Thanks.

mcx1000 came in 2 versions.. high split and low split..these are good radios, but you can't get anymore parts for these radios as motorola no longer supports it... your gonna hafta search around for some heads or scrap the radios..btw..these radios were programmed with an xt, 286 or 386... on DOS base.. best of all.. these radios make good crab/lobster trap weights..

I have old laptop running DOS for my old Motorola so I am good there.

I have a line on a few parts for Canada we were hoping there might be some other way as well. I might have to deconstruct on of the dash mount models to see if I could built a non Motorola head for it.

Does any one know about using them for APRS?
