MS-DOS RSS gets error

Post by Andrewc65 »

Hi All,
New to the forums, encountered my first error with the RSS for my MT2000 radio.
I am using the correct version of RSS in "pure" bootable DOS off of a USB Stick.
It is a totally new RIB-Less cable with a USB input (since my laptop has no serial ports that work..)
It comes up with the error:

Well....DOS would need a driver to make your usb to serial adapter work. I doubt that exists. You need a computer with a real serial port.

I may be wrong on DOS driver thing not existing so if I am wrong someone correct me.

Pretty sure Jason's correct. I've never seen any direct USB Jedi cable either (even though some models use Windows based CPS), perhaps to be compatible with DOS.

You need a DOS USB driver. There is one available on internet: http://www.dosusb.net/ it is a general usb driver and you probably need the serial port adapter driver as well.

Though I am a bit surprised there is a USB JEDI cable, because I never found one?

There isn't, I got a ribless cable and a Serial to USB adapter with Driver. Thanks for all the help!

It still displays the error. After trying many *different* usb to dos drivers, I am about ready to get a cable to fix this..
