MCS2000 problem

Hi
I have a MCS2000 UHF Model 2 110 watt.Radio that just started this.
For example,when I TX for 4 seconds,unkey and key up again,the radio powers down then powers back on in a few seconds and some times it can take a minute before it will boot back up on it's own.
Power supply is fine.Any ideas what could be wrong ?

You say the power supply is good. I hope your measuring the voltage inside the radio and not at the power supply terminals. There is a bunch of points along the power cabling that could cause a problem. Poor fuse connections, poor wire crimps, poor wire splices. You might even have a poor connection inside the radio.

It is close to the problem of the micro being told there is low voltage and this causes it to reboot. But if that was the case, it should do it as you key the transmitter and no on the second key up.

Don't forget to look at the power feeding the control head also.

Have you tested this power supply on another radio, and the other radio works fine? Also Is the radio a Pro radio? I just was talking with a individual who has the Commercial version and the Pro version of a radio. His power supply he had for the commercial rig worked fine but if he keyed it up on the Professional version it would reboot or drop TX but remain on because the power supply didn't supply enough amps.

Sounds like a psu problem to me as well. Rekeying requesting a power surge/hit and psu shutting down for safety or unable to handle the shunt.

Have you tried putting a load on the antenna port, I have seen these radio turn off when the antenna connector was loose.
