Apx 7000 scan issues

Post by cmac76 »

I am having problems with scanning with a apx7000. It starts off good but after sometime a small dot starts flashing next to the scan symbol(Z). Any ideas? I am guessing it is something I have set up wrong in the program.

What radios do you own?: APX

That small dot you see next to the scan symbol indicates rx/tx on your priority channel.

Stupidity creates job security!

If your radio has old firmware, programming it with the latest CPS will not add any new features unless you have the latest firmware to match..

CPS = Customer Programming Software, Not CPS Software.

There is no audio coming thru, would it be looking at something with a diff pl? It seems to lock up on it, it will stay like that until I change channel or turn scan off

Sounds like you went into "Scan Edit" mode. If you have a side button programmed for Scan you might have "long pressed" it on accident

Don't have scan edit programmed. I have selected channel set for priority and it only seems to lock up on a analog channel. When it does lock up I tapped my monitor button and nothing seems to be txing.

The dot indicates that the channel is a priority channel. Flashing dot means Priority 1, steady dot indicates Priority 2. It is locking on a conventional signal on the priority channel frequency that does not contain the proper PL/DPL parameters. Go to Scan Configuration>Scan Wide>Conventional>Priority Channel Marking. Check the Priority Channel Marking box. The scan function still continues to look at the channel, but it just ignores that channel the same way it ignores the non-priority channels that are without the proper parameters.
curmudgeon.....and I like it.
