Strange Trbo programming cable

Post by N4KVE »

A year ago I picked up a XPR6550. At the same time, a friend bought a new XPR7550, & PMKN4012B cable. Since he sold his 6550, he sold me his PMKN4012A cable because he was told the "B" cable was necessary to program his 7550. So today I bought his 7550, & was planning to mod the "A" cable to work with the 7550. But first I tried the cable, & it worked. He bought it new, & didn't mod it, because he didn't know a mod was possible. This is why he bought the "B" cable. So what gives? Do later "A" cables program a 7550? GARY

Pop it open & mod it anyway, if it isn't already. I've seen the un-modded 'A' cable work with 7550's...and then fail the next time, due to the floating ground.
