FPP Woes

Post by spatzek »

I'm a new owner of an APX 7000xe and just acquired the FPP key to activate that feature in the radio. I've encountered a problem after my last FPP programming change.

Starting from the beginning, I have a zone (zone 1) set up using CPS with my local repeater freqs and simplex. I had not encountered any problems after figuring out the new format of the CPS. I should add I' m new to the CPS having only used the DOS based soft are for my Spectras, HT1000's and JT1000's. Scan took me a little while to figure out, but I was able to get the scan list for Zone 1 set up with selected channel priority and all was well.

I used CPS to set up two more zones and designated them analog and digital for my label scheme. I enabled FPP for these two zones. I added 16 channels to each new zone. I edited one digital channel using FPP to 146.520 simplex using digital tx and mixed rec. I left the NAC at 293 and that's when the trouble started. I did a save of the radio and put it away for the night.

I don't know what I did, but I went to use my radio the next day back on my Zone 1 (completely analog ) and all my repeater offsets (TX freqs) have changed to talk around. this has happened with all my channels in zone 1, I can hear the repeaters but can't talk to them. I'm such a newb to the software and to High end radios in general, I'm not sure what I did. I'm almost ready to delete the 2 zones I added with FPP, but am hoping the situation is a matter of not having the right box checked.

Thanks in advance for any input anyone has, please guys be kind!

You need a unique personality for each channel in the zone. Sounds like you are using the same personality for all the channels

That makes perfect sense now that i think about it. I just need a placeholder value for each desired channel, even if not currently programmed via FPP. So what I end up with is a long list of all current channels in the radio that I tie to each channel in the desired new added zones.

You can share personalities for "like channels" with the understanding that any changes to that specific personality would affect all of the channels that are strapped to it.
I have my U/V APX set up this way and you need to remember this when making changes in the CPS or FPP.
