Minitor Programming

Post by KF4IXA »

Hello all,

I have a programming issue that I am trying to find an answer to. I recently sold a Minitor pager on eBay that was programmed by the vendor I purchased it from in 2012. It was programmed to not alert as I wanted to use it as a general receiver for the local FD and EMS.

The individual I sold it to has had it reprogrammed and says that it will just not work. He has used another pager to verify that it doesn't work.

Does anyone have the faintest idea what the issue may be? I have been told that if a Motorola product is programmed with newer software, that older software may not work any more.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance for your time.

It wouldn't surprise me to find out that he went into engineering mode and did something stupid.

Here's another of my "silly" questions: Which Minitor? There are three possibilities and unless you tell us, we can't know.

Secondly, without seeing the new codeplug and knowing exactly what the buyer's programmer did, I don't think any of us can truly tell you what the problem might be.

I'm not sure how one would use another pager to verify that this one doesn't work unless they shot the same codeplug into both of them. Again, you're not giving enough detail here to even speculate on the issue.

The info about newer/older software is generally true for two-ways, but most everyone that programs pagers already has the most current version. They haven't released an update to any of the pager software in quite a few years now. But again, without knowing what the buyer's programmer used, it's just not possible to answer.

And, as tvsjr points out, there's always the engineering mode issues.

Even IF he the same codeplug was shot into the two pagers they could be on different models (UHF vs VHF) or different bandsplits.
