HT50/P100 Charger problem

Post by Purpleman »

I have two HT50/P100 rapid chargers that I likely fried when I attempted to charge some dead batteries. One each of NTN4864A and NTN4864B. I did not measure the resistance across the internal fuse that is series with the big resistor, but visually them seem to be "closed". Known good batteries do not charge or get warm, and the red charging LED stays red even when the radio is removed. My question is if anybody has had this experience, and what the solution might be? Short of that, where I might be able to find a schematic for these chargers?
Thanks,

Hello:
When the dead battery ruins a p100 rapid charger it normally does blow open the glass fuse inside the rapid charger.
And if memory serves me right when chgr is plugged in with no battery in chg slot the red light stays lit constantly.
That fuse may look intact but from what your saying id bet its not and blown open.
The fuse may look like its in series with the big white block resistor but it actually terminates at another location than the block resistor as I recall.
Been awhile since I repaired the HT50 / P100 handheld.
But if you need parts I have brand new P100 fronts regular style and DTMF phone pad .
Also have some of the chassis cases left In P100 and think HT50 as well.
I do have 3 working P100/HT50 rapid chargers that can be bought cheeap.
If your looking for Knobs channel buttons or 6 channel UHF p100 radios in working condition give me a shout.
I just looked and I do have a new old stock 5451 battery for the HT50/P100 in its box yet.
I have the programming cable for the HT50 / P100 if someone wanted one.
I do have a pristine HT50 2ch UHF also .
Lots of internal parts such as microphones and speakers believe a controller bd pico fuses ect.
Im pretty sure the fuse was a 1 amp slo blow so you could go to radio shack and buy that without the fuse leads and just solder piggy back a fuse to the bad fuses ends if you have trouble finding the fuse with the leads.

Correct, the glass axial leaded fuse IS in series with the square resistor, 11 ohms IIRC.

Thanks guys. I will bring home an ohmmeter to check the fuse for sure.
