Lowband P200/MT1000 Antenna

I have done some research on this in a few places including here on this topic. It seems that when it comes to an antenna for using a P200 or MT1000 on 6 Meters for ham use, the popular recommendation is using the Motorola cutting chart that comes with the 30-50 Mhz antenna as a guide, simply cutting about another 1/4" or so off of the antenna. When asked about what is a good length to cover the whole 50-54Mhz band I have seen 6 1/8" as a suggestion. Since the regular VHF Motorola antenna I have now measures 6 1/4" tip to base, would this work decently without hurting the radio? Thanks in advance for your help.

NO the VHF antenna has a different construction to work at 150 MHz, a long way from 50 MHz.

Get yourself the Correct antenna.

Thanks Will. I did get the correct antenna. I cut it for a 52 Mhz center freq, and it turned out to be 6 1/8 long as I saw mentioned somewhere else on a post. I see what you mean by the noticeably different construction. The antenna works great.
