XTL1500 RSSI Button

Post by acyples »

I have several identically programmed XTL1500 mobile radios. All have RSSI function programmed for one of the softkeys. When RSSI button pressed on all but one of the radios, it will display the Site Alias and right after that, the numerical RSSI value. The one radio will show Site Alias only and not the actual RSSI. There must be a difference in some programming field that i can't see. Anyone have any suggestions?

For both one showing RSSI and one not -
Model M28URS9PW1AN
Flash 008008-002410-5

Not sure how to check actual firmware version

Hi Al,

You can see firmware version with your CPS under the general screens that show the radio tracking info. You need to read the radio to see these values, reading a saved codeplug will simply show 'n/a' in the fields. Or by entering the test mode pressing one of the front softkeys five times within 10 seconds of finishing the 'self test' after turning on. I forget which button off hand, but info such as serial number, model number, firmware versions & flashcode will scroll through the screen.

Update - Al is local to me, so I'm helping him out. It appears the "working" units have firmware 16.00.01 and the "non working" unit has firmware 19.00.00.

I've asked Al for the codeplugs. I or Al will update with anything new.

19.00.00 had a service bulletin out. I know it applied to XTL5000, not sure about 1500's.

The issue was related to when a radio goes out of range, it won't recover when it comes back in range. Not sure if this was just a SmartZone issue.

Just thought I would advise that problem fixed with firmware upgrade. Thanks all.
