APX Migration Assistant

Post by cogburne »

Trying to convert a XTL codeplug to APX using the migration assistant. It goes through the motions and says "No CODEPLUG FILES HAVE BEEN CONVERTED." Anyone have any experience with this?

Having same issue with Ver 11.00 CPG is from a portable using Ver 20.00. It makes a .CSV file, but even that is deleted once the migration assistant is closed. No idea what to try next.

Futher update - upgraded to 11.01.1 - still no go. Tried both a portable and a mobile, both with trunking (though no defined trunk systems) and without. Tried paring down the XTS5000 codeplug to 5 personalities, and one zone with 6 channels - still will NOT make an XML file. Laptop is running XP SP3, which MAY be the issue, though the README says it should work. Funny thing is that it DID work ONE time - but will not work a second time on the very same source codeplug. Also tried restarting in SAFE mode to reduce any conflicting drivers etc, and tried terminating all unnecessary services - STILL no joy - anyone have any thoughts? I hope to try a WIN-7 machine soon, but dont have access to one just yet---

I have tried it in v10 on a Win7 machine. I can see it going through the different personalities and whatnot in the ASTRO25 CPS, but then it just sits there and never finishes. I gave up and haven't tried it on v11+ yet, if I remember I can try tonight.

I've still not had any luck, but dont have access to a Win-7 PC yet. I DID manage to save the .CSV file, and from that, work the columns in order to re-sequence them to match the frequency entry parameters in APX. From there, I was able to COPY/PASTE into the APX, and so far, it was successful, EXCEPT for Astro NIDs - for some reason, they dont match the data entry parameters in APX. Am going to do some more investigation on that particular issue tonight.

OK, here are my results:

PC:
Windows 7 Professional 32-bit
APX Migration Assistant R11.00.01
ASTRO25 CPS R20.00.00

-Select an XTS5000 codeplug
-Choose "Portable"
-Choose "Validation Disabled"
-Log Files - Keep

I click "Start Conversion" and it opens the XTS codeplug fine and you can see it going through the different personalities and tabs. When it finishes, it closes the CPS and goes back to the Assistant. The progress bar in the bottom left gets up to about 45% and just sits there. It never actually finishes making the XML file. It created a Log folder, but it's empty.

Yep - exactly what I am seeing. My PC is WIN-XP with SP3 (supposed to be good) and the latest Migration Assistant 11.01.1 (I had first tried the 11.00.00, same results) The Astro-25 is the same Rev 20.00.00, and I've tried both portable and mobile, and codeplugs with trunking (though not programmed) and some cpg's without trunk feature.
Like I said, IF you get the .CSV file before you close the Assistant, you can capture the channel entries. You'll have to resequence the columns to match what APX is expecting, and then you can copy from the .CSV and paste into the FREQ Options in APX. I found out why the NIDs wont paste - the APX is expecting DECIMAL NIDs during the paste operation, and XTS only exports in HEX. In actual APX channel entry, you can enter either way, but for the PASTE operation, since the Decimal format comes first in the data block, that's what its looking for. Not a hard correction---still, why doesnt the Migration Assistant work AS ADVERTIZED?
Thanks
