You sent a virus to the account I use for this board. It was dated the 24 of Nov. Guys, Please dont flame me. Also, check yourselves. FatBoy.

Hey guys and gals a buddy of mine sent me a virus or at least I thought so, it turns out there is a new virus that actually goes through your address book and sends out a virus infected email. Hard to beleive but it seems to be true, several other people I know have had the same prolem.

Ya, Ive gotten it too, I just delete them... in the subject line it says RE: and then there is an attached file like, "sorry for yesterday.mp3.gif" its weird that it has two filenames. It is very annoying though!

In my short afternoon of research, it is called "Badtrans A or B" It is nasty, goes through your Outlook folders and emails itself to all your addressbook. FatBoy

I use PINE, so I get to avoid them ever getting to my machine... Unix is great :smile:

You can go to the Microsoft Windows Update website and download the latest "Critical Updates Package". This should keep your email from automatically forwarding viruses. It's also a good idea not to open attachments that don't look right and are from people you don't know. Of course if there is a will there is a way.

..to which I would add:

NEVER open an attachment from someone you don't know.

...and be sure to update your Norton AntiVirus program regularly and run it regularly...

Sorry folks, this thing came into my wifes computer and it is out now but I'm sure it made some rounds. It even got to my office machine. Again I'm sorry, Notron got rid of it here so It won't be speard again by me.
