will the speaker mic from the mt2000 work on the mt1000? I am looking for a convertacom for a mts 2000 ht

No, the MT-1000 and MT-2000 use different connectors for accessories so an MT-1000 mic will not fit an MT-2000. You will have to find a Jedi (MTX-8000, HT-1000, MTX-838, MT-2000, MTS-2000) speaker mic. I also think an XTS-3000/3500 speaker mic will work but I haven't verified this. There are lots of these mics being sold on eBay and occassionally a convertacom (MTVA) as well.
