MOTO TRBO Dual Band Portable
So, does anybody want to take a wild guess at the likelihood of Motorola ever making a dual band VHF/UHF MOTO TRBO handheld? My gut sort of tells me that the chances are slim to none (and slim left town). Anyway, what do you guys think?
Re: MOTO TRBO Dual Band Portable
I think you have a good grasp on the likelihood this would ever happen.
Re: MOTO TRBO Dual Band Portable
Unlikely. The existing P25 dual-band radios were created out of a need for critical life-safety interoperability, which is not what the TRBO series of radios and the DMR platform is geared towards.
Now that's not to say we may not see an offshore manufacturer develop one in the future for amateur/commercial use, but I can almost guarantee you won't see this out of Motorola because "there's no business case for it".

How about the UHF XPR7550? It's UHF L [403-470] & UHF H [450-512]. Does that count? I once heard Moto was going to make an APX7000 with both UHF bands. Did that ever happen? GARY
Re: MOTO TRBO Dual Band Portable
It sure did. APX 7000 UHF1/UHF2.
Though in the case of the XPR 7550, I would hesitate to call that two bands...

Re: MOTO TRBO Dual Band Portable
Considering that TRBO is a business product, the need for most business users to have a dual band anything is microscopic.
