What radios do you own?: Motorola

When programming a msf5000 I had a voltage on the 9volt battery connector of the rib, is this normal? I took the battery off and programmed the unit with no problem. Never seen where your supposed to remove the rib battery. Any comments on this?

Two ways to program the MSF...one is through the 40 pin connector on top of the RF tray using a Mot(or built) cable. The Mot cable has a line included to supply DC power to the RIB, so you don't need a RIB battery if you use this method. Other method is to program through the 6 pin control modular connector on front of the RF tray. In this case, you do need battery or AC power supply on the RIB.
