Re: xpr7550 password
One used to be able to use Wireshark to see the password in the clear, but I believe that loophole has been closed for quite some time. One option might be to use the 'recover' option under the 'device' menu, which would leave you with a default factory codeplug.
No trees were harmed in the posting of this message...however an extraordinarily large number of electrons were horribly inconvenienced.

I want to keep the original codeplug in the radio...

I think you're outta luck, unless someone else chimes in with an alternative.

Re: xpr7550 password
Wireshark may work if the firmware and CPS versions are older. Other than that, as wavetar said, you're probably out of luck.

Re: xpr7550 password
I could really use some help on this one as well.
R2.50.04 CPS12.0 or 12.1
Please don't judge me, the radio is not returnable.
I am not willing to wipe it for this.
I have hexworkshop, and I know what has to be done, but I don't the details of what to alter at what address.
Minor coding skills. Willing to learn if you're willing to point (if you prefer).
Please help.
PM's welcome.

Re: xpr7550 password
You need wireshark to capture the data as it is being read. When you plug in a TRBO, it views it as a network connection so wireshark can capture it in plain text. Just set wireshark to monitor 192.168.10.2 if it is using the default.
Motorola modified the software/firmware to encrypt that information at some point. I'm not sure which version that started with.
