Converting MTX838 no keypad to full keypad?

Hi all, want to convert an MTX838 with top display only (H01SDD9DB4AN) to full keypad with LCD. ANy body know an easy way to do this?? I have the new front, but cannot justify the Aus$250 the local shop wants to fit it and make it work!

You can use MTX lab rss to read a radio which has full keypad with LCD. then you can program to your radio. JUST is it.

But you will change your radio's model number and S/N.

There is not all MTX838 radios can be easliy change to B7 model (with full keypad and LCD) by program by LAB RSS,some radio need change the logic board or rewrite EEPROM(28C256) .

So you must save the codeplug date by lab RSS. If you can¡¯t update your radio you will need it.

Thought I Had access to a UHF radio, but unfortunatley it low band VHF!
WHat are the odds of turning my radio into a paper weight if i try this ??
