Interfacing PL encoder to conventional Astro Spectra
Anyone know if it's possible to interface a PL encoder through the accessory connector(s) of a high power, conventional only W9 Spectra? Since the Astro Spectra doesn't do MPL, I'm thinking of adding an external PL encoder (if possible) to get around that issue. The radio will be used exclusively for ham radio, and this would make it able to access any standard-offset 2m repeater with the code plug I'm writing for it now.

Re: Interfacing PL encoder to conventional Astro Spectra
I don't think you can feed PL in via the accessory port.
Are you sure you can't do MPL?
I kinda thought the only Astro Spectra that would not do MPL was the HHCH.
MPL is SUCH a handy feature.
I've used it on so many Motorola's over the years.
My current mobile is the 110 watt HHCH and it won't do it.
So, I just do extra Modes and have duplicate Zones with same Modes, but different tones.
Kinda the poor mans MPL.

Re: Interfacing PL encoder to conventional Astro Spectra
From what I've been able to find on the main Batlabs site, and on here, Astro Spectras simply don't do MPL. I also can find absolutely no mention of MPL in the Astro RSS I have. Trust me, I really wish I could simply enable MPL. Would make my life so much simpler. I'm really hoping someone chimes in as says something like, "you only have to enable thus-and-such under the so-and-so menu and you'll have MPL available, dummy!" As to not having the correct things available on the acc. connector, I have no issues with modding the radio's internal to make this happen. I know there are a LOT of configuration jumpers in there to change what the different pins in the connector are, but I haven't been able to find a good list of what does what, and I don't have a manual.

Re: Interfacing PL encoder to conventional Astro Spectra
I would have sworn that Astro Spectra's had that, but I too have just checked a bunch of files on my laptop, and all
three of the Astro Spectras in my possession and none of them show MPL.
I'm pretty sure the Astro Spectra maintenance manual was on Repeater-Builder.
I know I downloaded it a couple of times, so its available somewhere.

Re: Interfacing PL encoder to conventional Astro Spectra
Now, why didn't I think or repeater-builder? I'm pretty sure you are correct. Thanks!
